Staff Accountant

Job Duties

Cash Application and Collections

  • Apply customer payments daily.
  • Research and resolve customer chargebacks and deductions.
  • Contact customers to inquire on past due invoices.
  • Maintain customer rebate process and reconcile to customer payments.

Month End Processing

  • Prepare all account reconciliations and variance analysis.
  • Analyze total corporate expenses, including comparisons to forecasted results and trended results. Expenses outside of tolerance threshold explained to management.
  • Responsible for the capital expenditure reconciliation and reporting process.
  • Prepare monthly accruals for payroll and other payables.
  • Calculate and file use tax.
  • Reconcile credit card charges to individual receipts and enter into ERP system.

Weekly and Monthly Reporting

  • Weekly preparation of executive scorecard metrics.
  • Monthly reporting and analysis of finance team scorecard metrics.
  • Maintain report for utility usage and costs.
  • Weekly review and enter transportation invoices.

Annual Audit and Year-End Reporting

  • Prepare backup and supporting schedules for year-end audit.
  • Provide report requests to external auditors.

Accounting Support

  • Maintain proper standard operating procedures for all accounting processes.
  • Ad Hoc analyses and data entry as requested by management.
  • Maintain certificate of insurance logs for external vendors.
  • Backup to Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable function.
  • Reconcile temporary help and day labor hours to vendor invoices.

Essential Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent external work experience.
  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Strong analytical and accounting skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook.
  • Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The individual will be expected to work with minimal up-front guidance and take ownership of his / her work product.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with high level of difficulty.
