Inventory Control Specialist

As an Inventory Control Specialist, you will maintain accurate inventory records through hands-on cycle counting, discrepancy research, ERP reconciliation, and data analysis using Excel and Power BI. You will spend significant time in warehouse and production areas, work with multiple departments to resolve inventory issues, and lead the year-end physical inventory process. Training will be provided on Business Central, our ERP system, along with our internal cycle-counting and inventory processes. As you become fully trained, you will take on additional inventory-related projects and process improvement work. This on-site position is based in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and reports directly to the Business Systems & Analytics Manager.

Key responsibilities:

Cycle Counting and Inventory Accuracy:

• Perform cycle counts of assigned inventory, such as raw materials, packaging, and work-in-process, across company facilities, spending a significant portion of the workweek in warehouse and production
  areas.

• Develop and maintain a schedule so assigned inventory is counted at the required frequency.

• Monitor inventory accuracy by item and identify items requiring additional review.

Discrepancy Research and ERP Reconciliation:

• Research inventory discrepancies by reviewing physical counts and related transactions in Business
  Central, the company’s ERP system.
• Perform recounts and additional research when significant or unusual variances are identified.
• Post inventory adjustments accurately and maintain clear supporting documentation.
• Escalate significant or unexplained discrepancies as appropriate.

Year-End Inventory and Audit Support:

• Lead the company’s year-end physical inventory process, including count preparation, scheduling, employee instructions, system activities, reconciliation, and follow-up.

• Assist with inventory trace exercises, mock recalls, and other internal or external audits as needed.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

•  Use Business Central, Excel, Power BI, and other reporting tools to monitor inventory accuracy and identify trends or recurring issues.
• Track and report inventory-control metrics, including count completion, inventory accuracy, adjustment activity, significant variances, and recurring problem areas.

Inventory Projects:

• Work with internal teams to identify the root causes of recurring inventory issues and determine corrective actions.
• Support inventory-related ERP initiatives, process improvements, and other projects after becoming fully trained in cycle counting and reconciliation.
• Create and maintain procedures for cycle counting, discrepancy research, inventory adjustments, and year-end physical inventory.
• Assist with employee training and provide guidance on inventory procedures and ERP transactions when process gaps are identified.

Independent Work and Facility Support:

• Plan daily counting activities and manage assigned responsibilities with minimal supervision.

• Travel between Green Bay locations as needed and to Prior Lake, Minnesota, at least quarterly. Prior Lake visits typically involve one or two overnight stays. Business travel expenses will be paid or reimbursed according to company policy.

Schedule and Work Environment:

• This is a first-shift position, typically Monday through Friday, with a consistent start time between 6:00a.m. and 8:00a.m.

• Rare weekend work may be required.

• Stand and walk for extended periods while performing counts in warehouse, production, cooler, and freezer areas.

• Safely operate forklifts and scissor lifts after certification.

• Wear required PPE and follow GMP and food-safety requirements in production and storage areas.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Two or more years of manufacturing experience preferred, particularly in warehouse, production,inventory control, or a related area.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, preferred but not required.

• General computer skills and the ability to enter and review information accurately in an ERP system.

• Experience with Business Central or another ERP is preferred but not required; training will be provided.

• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accurate inventory records.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work with multiple departments to investigate and resolve inventory issues.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities, stay organized, and work independently with minimal supervision.

• Willingness and ability to travel between company locations, including quarterly travel to Prior Lake, Minnesota.

• Must be able to obtain forklift and scissor lift certification. Training and certification will be provided.

• Willingness to learn, develop new skills, and take on additional inventory-related projects as the role
  grows.

• Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
