Port City Bakery, DBA AK Pizza Crust, is a manufacturer of a wide variety of self-rising and par-bake pizza crusts and other related dough products. Founded in 1989 in Green Bay, we employ over 500 people in four facilities in the Green Bay area and one in Minnesota. Our subsidiary, Pep’s Pizza Company, LLC is a manufacturer of topped frozen pizza, with over 60 employees and operating in two production facilities in Wisconsin.

 

Port City Bakery has an opening for a Payroll and Benefits Specialist. Reporting to the Payroll and Benefits Supervisor, the Specialist will be primarily responsible for payroll processing and benefit administration for all employees.

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Review daily timecards and work with supervisors on data corrections.
  • Confirm all vacation requests are approved timely.
  • Maintain accuracy of employee data in payroll system (UKG), including wage changes, new employee setup, transfers, benefit elections/deductions, and direct deposit account information.
  • Manage garnishment payments and other court-ordered deductions in accordance with applicable requirements.
  • Prepare biweekly payroll for all company employees.
  • Maintain confidential employee benefit records and documentation.
  • Audit benefit enrollment, eligibility, deductions, and employee demographic information between UKG and benefit vendor systems to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Reconcile monthly payroll deductions with vendor billing statements.
  • Contact and meet with newly eligible employees to review benefit options.
  • Educate employees and assist them with selections for:
    • Health insurance
    • Dental Insurance
    • Vision Insurance
    • Short Term Disability
    • Long Term Disability
    • Life insurance
    • Hospital Indemnity Insurance
    • Critical Illness Insurance
    • Accident Insurance
    • 401k plan
  • Work with benefit vendors and benefits broker to help employees answer questions regarding coverages.
  • Complete employer responses for government provided health insurance questionnaires for employees.
  • Assist employees filing for short-term or long-term disability.
  • Coordinate payments for benefits from employees on leave of absence.
  • For open enrollment:
    • Schedule employee meetings.
    • Communicate enrollment deadlines and required actions to employees.
    • Assist employees with enrollment questions and system issues throughout the open enrollment period.
    • Audit open enrollment elections and payroll deductions for accuracy.
  • Coordinate quarterly 401k educational meetings with 401k vendor to be on site and update new eligible employees quarterly with vendor.
  • Assist with the 401k audit, providing documentation from employee’s files as needed.

Qualifications:

To perform this position successfully, an individual must demonstrate regular, predictable attendance and be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge and skill required. The individual must be able to successfully pass the background checks.

  • Bilingual skills are a plus and highly valued but are not a requirement of the position.
  • Associate Degree in HR related field preferred but not required.
  • Proficient computer skills and prior experience with MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook.
  • 3 years related administrative experience preferred but not required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills. Must be able to communicate professionally with all levels of staff.
  • Very organized and detail oriented, capable of accepting and completing work assignments with minimal supervision in a highly motivated manner once entry level training is complete.
  • Capable of handling high-pressure situations professionally in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality is required.
  • Available to meet with employees on all shifts as required.
  • Ensure accuracy in projects, proofreading skills and practices great attention to detail.
  • Must be a self-starter, proactive and able to take the lead on tasks with minimal direction.
  • Ability to travel as needed to cover benefit enrollment for all locations.
