What makes the perfect pizza? An Alive & Kickin’ New York Style Dough Ball hand-formed into a crust of ideal thickness? Absolutely. Fully-prepared pizza sauce spread edge-to-edge? Yes! Plenty of delicious toppings and lots of melty, golden-brown cheese? Bring it.
Certainly these are all top contenders, but what really makes the perfect pizza is the bake. It's part art and part science, but pizza perfection is attainable when you use these quick baking tips from our very own Chef Luke.
Paying attention to time and temperature is key in achieving the perfect pizza crust bake. Slip up on one or the other, and your pizza will let you know. Look for these telltale signs:
- Underbaked: Crust is pale and not crisp; dough underdeveloped and gummy
- Overbaked: Crust is dark and cheese is burnt, bottom is very dark and bitter
Get both the time and temperature just right, though, and your crust will be golden brown with a crisp top and an airy, lightly chewy interior. The perfect pizza!
