Why Your Pizzeria Needs a Digital Menu Board Now!

August 16 2017 by Dan Pecha

Digital Menu Board.jpgIf we were to ask how your current menu is doing, you’d probably answer, “Good!” But is “good” good enough...when a digital menu board could take your game up to “great?”

Basically, a digital menu board is a big TV screen on which you “project” your menu. When you purchase a digital board, you also receive software that allows you to use your computer to design the digital menu (based on one of dozens of customizable templates) and make updates any time, of any type — prices, colors, placement, etc. They have great potential especially for pizza operations in the QSR category, those offering take-n-bake services, and dine-in operations where customers order at the counter.

What’s the benefit of the “Menu 2.0?” It’s been shown that digital menu boards, when used in place of printed menus, can reduce costs (and waste), simplify the process of menu updating, and visually grab customer attention.

Saves Money

One reason operators hesitate to make changes to their menus is the cost involved — even when they believe a change might be good for business! While buying a digital board involves an initial outlay of cash, it can pay for itself over time when you consider you’ll never have to print another menu.

Reduces Waste

Speaking of all those printed menus you’ll be tossing out each time you change prices or offerings, what landfill really needs them? Digital boards are “green” and your customers will appreciate that.

Saves Time

When you use paper menus, it’s a big hassle to remove items, add items, change pricing or modify descriptions — no one in the restaurant industry has time for that. With digital menu boards, the changes are as easy as typing on a keyboard and clicking “submit” — done! Plus, running a promotion isn’t a big deal — just add it to the board and you’re ready to start taking orders. Updates can even be done remotely, and apply instantly to all locations if you want them to.

Gets Attention

Even the most colorful menus can’t compare with a large, brightly lit and well-designed digital sign that glows! Your pies and other menu items will look fantastic and add to customers’ dining experiences.

Extends Your Message

Oh, and did we mention that your digital board can include video? Wouldn’t it be great to use space on the digital board to demonstrate the care you take in preparing your pies? Not only that, but a digital board is a great place to share trivia, promote specials and special events, offer some entertaining thoughts...the possibilities are endless.

Extends Your Hours

A digital board can be positioned during off-hours so that passersby can see your menu and entice them to stop in during operating hours.

Motivate Employees

A digital monitor can serve multiple purposes — put it to use during closed hours as an energizing training device! Videotape different front- and back-of-the-house procedures and share with employees to ensure everyone is on board and consistent in how they’re helping build your brand.

There are a number of good menu board manufacturers, and each offers a slightly different “package” of features and capabilities (and price tags). You’ll want to do your research to select one that suits your needs and the space you have available.
